This laser has a maximum limit of over 2.8W at 2.5amps and should only be over-driven like this for very short times. This level of power certainly creates the ability to cut more and do more with your laser. The spot size is a bit bigger, so very small engraving will be a bit more difficult, but the trade-off in more optical power on the work surface is worth it. This laser is very effective and can run for extended times in the 1.3amp to 1.7amp range and we recommend not going much over 2 amps for extended periods of “on time”.
